The new campus of Shanghai Ocean University
In August 2008, Shanghai Ocean University moved to a new campus in Lingang New City, a harbor city which is located in southeast of greater Shanghai, acting as a satellite city center connecting Shanghai Pudong Airport (air harbor) and Yangshan Deep Sea Port (sea harbor). The new city is on the shore of a large lake called Dishui Lake and is only a short distance from the sea.
At the moment, there are four universities located near to each other in Lingang with the student population of about 50,000. The air is clean and the open spaces are welcoming, especially for cyclists. The SOU new campus is very modernized and digitalized with great scenery. Local supermarkets, convenience stores and restaurants are both inside and outside the campus.

Transportation to the central Shanghai
The transport infrastructure is developing quickly.
  1. An express bus runs between Longyang Metro Station on metro line number 2 to a stop at the gate of the SOU new campus. The time of the journey should be about 55 minutes. Longyang Metro Station is only 6 stops from People’s Square (the very Central Shanghai). It takes about 12 minutes to travel from Longyang Metro Station to People’s Square. The bus fare is RMB 17.
  2. The university commuter buses run daily with five routes. One route is from Zhangjiang Gao Ke metro station to the campus at 7.10 am each morning and a return bus departs from the campus each day at 1.00 pm and 4.20 pm (Friday at 3.30 pm). The commuting time is about 50 minutes, the bus fare is RMB 10. Zhangjiang Gao Ke metro station is only 7 stops from People’s Square (the very Central Shanghai).
  3. The metro Line 16 runs from Longyang Metro Station to the Lingang City, which shortens the travel time to 30 minutes once being operational.
  4. A taxi to Pudong International Airport will take 40 minutes. Another way to Pudong International Airport is to take the express bus to Longyang Metro Station which is also the starting stop for Magnetic Elevated Train (with fastest speed of 431km/h, it takes 7 minutes to get to the airport.)

Campus facilities
There are a number of restaurants – both Chinese and western - as well as coffee shops, cafeterias, a supermarket, convenience shops, post office and banking facilities, on the campus.
